WOMEN'S HISTORY COUNCIL

Worked with a team during the 2017 Weekend for Good, an event that brings designers and developers together to help nonprofits in and around West Michigan. We created a new website for the Greater Grand Rapids Women's History Council, designed a new logo, and social media images. During the weekend, I was in charge of creating their new logo and color pallete, a set of iconography, and implementing the new design into their website and social media images.

PROCESS

During Weekend for Good, the word “process” becomes a very loose term since the time spent on the project is so short. That’s why it’s good to have a solid design process ingrained into your brain. Even though I only had a weekend to rebrand GGRWHC, I still took the time to analyze their website and break it down into a sitemap to reconstruct it into a better structure.

SOLUTION
The icons in the logo and other branded materials are abstract versions of people with abstract and geometric features. They are incorporated into squares and rectangles to symbolize building blocks. This illustrates the idea that the historic women that GGRWHC showcases are the building blocks that link today’s women to their past.
